In Vinland the sun set at midafternoon, that is Ekerstad.
There was no lack of salmon both in the lake and the river, and this salmon was larger than they had ever seen before.
The days and nights were much more equal in length than in either Greenland or Iceland. In the depth of winter the sun was aloft by midmorning and still visible at midafternoon. Early translations say the sun set at Ekerstad rather than saying it "was still visible at midafternoon".
